Hooray! I got a job at last and a great one at that

I will be working for the best rated bank in the US, Wells Fargo, based in the Denver office about 30 min drive from our apartment. I am so excited to start and get this brain into gear. I will be looking after sponsorships, small business and university campuses on the marketing side. What a job!!!!

Today we had a fair shower of snowflakes and it is starting to look great up in the mountains. Just a few weeks away from the opening of the beginner slopes and a chance for us to experience the world of skiing first hand. Wishing you all a great week ahead and thank you for all the good wishes and support, it is always highly appreciated.

Interviews and the start of the cold season

This week was a reasonably busy week with a good start and interviews held on Monday. The industries are in turmoil with the stocks plummeting and the bigger corporations going into panic mode. Panic mode means a freeze on hiring, cost reduction, no travel for personnel unless board approval is given, pressure on closing deals and as companies fold, others aggressively snap up the opportunities that present themselves.

This a pic of the light snow fall in Denver last night, Sunday.

The bail out package put forward by the gov has met with mixed reaction as the gov now start to institute some control in corporations that are to receive funding. Nothing quite like watching a greedy capitalist in trouble and still kicking and screaming on the way down that gov should come to the rescue but is not allowed to have any say in how the funds received will be utilized. Naive or stupid we will have to watch and see.

Weather wise we had an introduction to the first cold snap this weekend. the temp today started out at 1 degree C and should reach a high of 7 degrees C today. But the sun is out this morning and contrary to the weather forecast it looks to be a magnificent day ahead. Oh, before I forget I got to play a game of golf on Thursday and shot 89 medal which was not too bad since the 5 & 7 handicap golfers I played with shot 90 and 92 respectively.

Wishing all of you a great week ahead and a successful one.

Ice Hockey, the taste of Greenwood Village and dinner in Castle Rock

My second attendance at a ice hockey game and what an exciting game to watch at the Pepsi Center in Denver

Lesleigh and me in the crowd and just off the ice which is prime seating, $100 a ticket which we got from a friend for free.

Saturday night in the restaurant in Castle Rock, a great evening out.

This has been a week of the socialites. We attended toastmasters on Wednesday morning, played golf at Raccoon Creek on Wednesday afternoon and shot a 80 with not one birdie. Wednesday night we got tickets to watch the hockey and that was a fantastic treat. The game is so fast and intense and definitely far better to watch live than any television footage.

On Thursday we went off to an event called the Taste of Greenwood Village and it was a great event. They had all the local restaurants in the area present offering samples of the food they serve in their respective restaurants. People filled the hall walking from stall to stall sampling cuisine and tasting wine from a variety of wine makers who were present.

Then on Saturday we attended a speech contest in the Denver Tech Center followed by a birthday dinner in Castle Rock about a 30 min drive South of Denver for one of Melissa's friends. The food was good and we all had a great evening out.

Today Lesleigh and I seem to have picked up a throat virus of some type and are taking it easy at home as we have a really busy week ahead. Oh and before I forget it started snowing in the mountains last night so ski season looks like it will be a lot of fun this year, only 35 days to go!
