What a way to spend Saturday

Driving is an adventure in the snow

Lesleigh got a quick photo of the truck wheels with chains as we drove by on route up the mountains

It was off to the mountains on Saturday this past weekend to enjoy the fresh powder falling at the ski resorts. We chose to go to Breckenridge because they have had the largest snow falls over the past week, and we were not disappointed in our choice, with about a foot in fresh powder who can ask for more. The drive up was a little slippery but once we were there it was winter wonderland. Lesleigh and I got to go up early and managed to get 9 solid runs in before heading off for lunch. The powder was so deep that in parts we were knee deep on the sides of the groomed areas. Well another awesome experience enjoyed and now safely back in Denver.

Winter in Colorado 2010

After what was a magnificent Fall in 2010 we have started our winter, and as expected we have had great snow falls at the resorts in the mountains about an hour west of where we live. That being said, we have yet to have our first snow at the house. The weather reports constantly threaten snow any day now but it has yet to happen. The lakes are dry and the so is the air. The upside is that we are still able to play tennis outdoors and we have not had a need to wear jackets outdoors yet. Halloween was a lot of fun this year and we got dressed up with masks and had the place decorated. I took a photo of the scary character that Lesleigh made and placed outside the front door.

Now just a week away from Christmas the neighborhood looks fantastic and everyone really has gone to a lot of effort to decorate their houses with lights and christmas decor in the yards. At night it is like visiting a wonderland. Down town Littleton had the lights parade and the street is well lit.  I took a few photo's to give sneak preview of what the shops look like at night. We also headed into the hills about 20 minutes west of the house and got a snap of the frozen lake.

Other news is that I am confident I will have work into Jan of 2011 and want to wish all my family and friends a very festive Christmas, safe travels where ever you may go, and a fantastic start to 2011. May the new year bring you adventure, fun and success in all you do!

These two antique stores do a great job of illuminating their stores over the holidays.

As you can see the lakes are now frozen but we are yet to get our first real snow falls.

Sunset at our house with the christmas lights flashing on the front porch

Sunset this week was breath taking and for a short while we even got to see Northern lights with the sky reflecting off the snow up in the mountains painting the sky with pink, green and turquoise colors.
