California – A destination with a price tag

On Saturday we went to place called La Jolla, looks like Cape Town Clifton number 4 type of area and has housing price tags to match. Very pretty and the water looks fantastic, its just short of the Torrey Pines golf course which hosts the US open this week.

This is Down Town San Diego
The photo below is Fashion Valley mall in San Diego, we went to watch a movie here on Sunday and had a walk through the mall. Its like a outdoor Sandton City and Lesleigh loved all the big brand names.
So yesterday we headed for a little R & R to the local beach at Coronado Island, just off downtown San Diego. Lesleigh and I both like that part of town. We went to laundry first and washed all our kit. Whilst the clothes washed we had breakfast and read the paper. After that we headed to the beach and found a great spot on a magnificent beach. But because the breeze felt cool I did not feel the burn and can convincingly say that today I know that I was roasted by the sun yesterday. I have a true vaalie tan and its patchy so Lesleigh just laughs each time she sees the patches. The sun screens here are very watery and don’t seem quite what we are used to.

A Vaalie Tan and its sore! Got some weight to loose as well thanks to Big Macs.

My first ball game, it was the NY mets vs San Diego Padres, and the Padres won.

Hello it’s me again and this time reporting in from a little town in the hills about half way between LA and San Francisco. It’s 100 F outside and in a town named Paso Robles, very quaint and surrounded by beautiful vineyards, just as you would see in Paarl. The road to get here was long and not all together exciting just miles upon miles of vegetable and fruit farms amongst dry hills, and no idea where the water was coming from. At one point we passed a section of around 3 square miles of these odd shaped mechanical pumps out in the middle of nowhere, all working away vigorously

I have applied for heaps of jobs on the net and hope that we get some feedback from at least one of them. In the meantime we will keep hunting for jobs and or opportunities where ever we visit.

I would love to stop at a butcher and pick up a large piece of steak and braai it outside right now. The hotel living is starting to get to me, but Big Macs do have a great yoghurt and fresh fruit breakfast.

Oh got to tell everyone about this web site we are using, its called priceline.com you go online and select and area that you want to visit. You then get a list of hotels come up on the screen with their quoted rates. You can then put in a bid for 50% of the asking tariff and send it off. If your bid is accepted then you may not cancel the room without loosing your cash but you are getting big discounting. So far we have saved ourselves at least $700 just in accommodation. Go ahead give it a GO!
