Independance Day the 4th of July and my moms birthday

Brilliant firework at the park

The crowds at the independence celebrations

Happy birthday mom and if you were here it would feel like a lot of people were celebrating with you. The firework displays are breathtaking and last for anything from a half hour to a full hour of continuous bangs of color into the pitch black skies. They really do go big on independence day and celebrations take place in one form or another in every community. I tried to capture a few of the fireworks just to show you a sample of the views we saw.

Yesterday we joined thousands of residents in the neighbourhood at a independence celebration at the park across the road from our apartment. As you will see in the photo there was a huge crowd and they had food stalls, kids play areas, rock bands and a half hour fire display at 09h30. We sat in our camping chairs sipping on beer and wine whilst soaking up the atmosphere. This is one day to write down as a festive celebration where ever you might be in the US.
