Wonders of the World

They say a picture says more than a thousand words and this is just what I intend to share with all of you on a two day trip from Denver to Durango and then onto the Grand Canyon. The scenery and contrasts in landscapes were over whelming. Take a look these sites are breath taking. The order of photographs are placed with the Grand Canyon first and the road all the way back into Evergreen in Denver.

This is the start of the Grand Canyon behind where we stand. The pic on the right is just a snap of the type of lanscape we passed on route to the Canyon.

These photo's show an interesting site where one point marks the cross over of four states, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Yes we crossed four states in one day!

This snap is the road ahead of us at the top of the pass. We had to drive under an ice flow as you can see just ahead. The roads were narrow but what an experience.

We took time out on the mountain pass to take in the views and stretch the legs, Lesleigh drove most of the pass and I just hugged the car door as the roads had little or no barriers and the descent was miles at the minimum and dont forget the passenger sits on the cliff edge when you drive on the right hand side.

The little ski town at the foothills of the pass. seen here on the left. The right is a picture of snow melt at the start of Spring.

The rocks are spectacular to look at as they varied in colour and shapes throughout the journey.

This is a wine estate in Palasade, the wine here is sweet and I have not yet found one that satifies my pallet, but I will keep trying, promise.

A typical tunnel, that takes us through a mountain, an engineering feat.

The pics of the train are the famous ride on a staemer between Silverton and Durango.

The Road out of Denver onto Vail and Copper Mountain are captivating. I must confess these would be very dangerous to drive in winter.
