Yesterday we took a trip out to Colorado Springs which is about an hour South of Denver city centre (referred to as down town). It was a drive on the Interstate 25 or I25 and we passed a couple of large residential developments one of which was Highlands Ranch and the other Castle Rock.

On entering Colorado Springs there is a place named the Garden of the Gods and comprises of some spectacular rock formations with some very pretty gardens surrounding the base of the rocks. We visited the center and go to read up on all the history and then took a walk on a hiking trail through the gardens. At these high altitudes you burn a lot faster than you would think and by the time we got back to the car park we had caught a light burn.

We drove down into Colorado Springs old town and walked the main street up and down. Even popped into a pavement restaurant for lunch and enjoyed our first Bison burgers.(not at all bad). There are tons of Harley bikes riding around Colorado and the characters on the bikes look just like in the movies, rough with handle bar mustaches and no helmets which is legal.

Today we had a lazy start to the day and enjoyed a light breakfast at the house. At noon we set off to American Furniture warehouse to get a feel for prices of goods, such as beds, lounge suites and general odds and ends. There is some nice stuff and not all that expensive by comparison to SA. After the shopping we stopped for lunch at a chain restaurant called Chili’s and had a huge meal with a margarita. The size of the portions are really big.

After lunch Fred took us on a drive to see Arrowhead golf course and the view of the course was spectacular, even better to know is that this is a public course and the fee to play is $59.00 for eighteen holes which is not bad at all. Take a look at the pics and don’t you wish you were here to play a game. I know my regular Friday golf team mates would give a lot to play at this course.
